Windows 7 phone – [O2]

windows-on-phone

The latest mobile operating system to come from Microsoft is Windows Phone 7, which launched in Europe and Asia on 21st October 2010.

One of the key features of this system is the new user interface. The home screen is comprised of ‘Tiles’, which can be personalised to suit the users’ needs. Windows Phone 7 also has the interface advantage of being specially designed accommodate for social network integration. This lets those using social media platforms, such as Facebook or Twitter, to combine their phone data, such as photos and contacts, with the data they can access via such online social networks.
The Windows Phone 7 web browser is also particularly notable for its ability to display up to six tabs, as well save pictures from web pages and stream videos directly from the YouTube. In addition to this, Adobe has also announced that its Flash Player 10.1 will also be released for use with Windows Phone 7.
Multimedia and gaming abilities are also given a high priority with the system. Windows Phone 7 offers Xbox LIVE compatibility, and a gaming experience which more closely resembles console gaming than one would usually find on the majority of phone operating systems. Versions of popular games such as Guitar Hero and UNO are currently available.
All Windows phones on which this operating system is installed are required to have a search button on the front of the handset. This will allow users to search web sites, news, and map locations using Bing, as well as features within the individual phone’s applications. Hardware makers willing to conform to this and other regulations include brands such as Dell, Sony Ericsson, LG and Toshiba.
There are several mobile network operators which now use the Windows Phone 7 OS, including AT&T, Orange, and Vodafone. Mobile network operator [O2] have also announced their exclusive offer of Windows Phone 7 on the HTC HD7 phone. This, and other Windows Phone 7 devices, must fill the specification requests, which include a 4-point multi-touch screen, 256MB of RAM with at least 8GB of Flash memory, a 5-megapixel camera with an LED flash, as well as six dedicated hardware buttons and various other facilities.
As with most mobile operating systems, Microsoft plans to deliver software updates, which it will do via the innovative Windows Phone Update feature. For larger updates, users will be asked to attach their phone to their computer, so that the software can can be updated directly from the internet. Third-party applications can also be downloaded (and updated) from the Windows Live Marketplace, all of which must conform to Microsoft’s polices concerning explicit content.
Since its release, Windows Phone 7 has received praise for it’s virtual keyboard and impressive utility. Although still in its early stages and likely to undergo significant future development, this mobile operating system looks to be a serious contender in today’s competitive smartphone market.

Motorola Milestone 2

Motorola Milestone 2 will be released in Europe as we all could see from the promotional video. This unit is a GSM-version of the smartphone Droid 2, intended for the U.S. market. Luxor Las Vegas Jackpot phone introduced by Gresso costs $ 1 million

The Swiss company Gresso presented Luxor Las Vegas Jackpot - phone luxury worth $ 1 million. The body is made of gold weighing 180 g and encrusted with black diamonds weighing 45.5 carats. The back panel of this pearl is made of 200-year African ebony.

The keypad is made of hand-polished single crystal sapphire, and the numbers and letters are printed by laser. And among all those mind blowing figures this Luxor Las Vegas Jackpot is only 12 mm thick. The company did not specify the technical characteristics of the new mobile phone.

Samsung SCH-B600: The 10-Megapixel Cellphone with Optical Zoom

Beautiful! Oh, I meant the phones.
Like the previous Samsung SCH-B500, the new Samsung SCH-B600 features a candybar form factor with an optical zoom camera. What’s new is the snazzier design and the 10-megapixel camera.

Sexy! Yeah, the phones. Lovely! Both of them. Sleek-looking phone that packs tons of megapixel.

Features:
  • 10-megapixel camera with 3x optical zoom and 5x digital zoom
  • Auto focus
  • Built-in flash
  • White balance setting
  • Manual focus
  • Continuous picture-taking
  • Interval picture-taking
  • Bluetooth
  • Satellite DMB
  • MMCmicro external memory support
  • TV-out
  • MP3 player
  • Business card reader

For guys, like the SCH-B500, be sure not to activate the B600’s lens barrel when it’s in your pants. It can be rather embarrassing. Each set is expected to set you back around US$940 when it launches in Korea.

Samsung’s Odd-Looking F500 Ultra Video Cellphone

Samsung F500The unreleased Samsung F500 “Ultra Video” cellphone swivels in a really odd manner. I suppose it is to allow you to hold the phone in a more comfortable position while photographing/videographing in landscape mode.

Other than the unique look, it has quite a bunch of nice features too:
2.3-inch LCD
Plays DivX, MPEG4, H.264, WMV, and AVI video files
microSD card slot
Sweeping” UI, which you need to press the button with a quick smooth move to navigate
It should appear in Korea, Europe, and USA market around February or March this year. Maybe we’ll get more details of the phone by then.

Samsung Ultra Smart F700: The iPhone Killer?

Samsung Ultra Smart F700
Samsung’s not gonna wait and let Apple bite into their cellphone marketshare. And with the announcement of their new Samsung F700 today, looks like Apple has got serious competition.

Like the iPhone, the F700 sports a touchscreen interface. But, here are two things that the F700 does better: Slide-out QWERTY keyboard and VibeTonz technology which responds to touches with vibrations.

Samsung Ultra Smart F700Touchscreen may have its advantages, but sometimes real keys with tactile feedback just work better. And with the F700, you have the choice. Even if you choose to use the touchscreen, the phone provides vibration feedback so it will likely work better than iPhone (unless Apple decides to add this, which should be easy).

Other notable features:
  • 7.2Mbps HSDPA
  • 5-megapixel camera (beats iPhone hands down)
  • Full HTML browser (perhaps not as good as iPhone’s Safari?)
  • 2.78-inch touchscreen display .
The release date is unknown, but it will be showcased at the 3GSM World Congress next week. Sit tight for more details coming from the event.

iPod 24 Carat gold

Amosu 24 Carat Gold iPod Nano
Everyone’s talking about Amosu’s 24 carat gold iPod!

For those who aren’t fascinated by the arty skins we just talked about and definitely have a lavish of cash, try getting one of these to feel the gold rush from its hardened mirror gold.
The downside? Turning over and staring into the (same) black or white face seems quite an anti-climax.
Gold-lovers, prepare to shell out £299.00 (US$600) for the 8GB iPod Nano or 30GB iPod Video, and £399.00 (US$800) for the 80GB iPod Video.

Apple iPhone 4

Apple iPhone 4 - Smartphones & PDA Phones

As you might expect, the Verizon iPhone 4 made its debut on the FCC listings today. It looks very much like the AT&T iPhone 4, of course, except it has the CDMA/EV-DO Rev. A specifications instead of GSM.The FCC report also says that it has a 1.18 W/kg SAR, which is just a smidge higher than the 1.17 W/kg on the AT&T iPhone–the difference is so small that it’s pretty insignificant. Aside from those few differences, the Verizon iPhone 4 is just like the AT&T one.

Nokia C-7

We review the Nokia C7, a slim touchscreen device running on Symbian^3.The Nokia E7 may have been the star of the show at Nokia World, but there were two other devices launched there too – the C6 and C7.Both the C6 and C7 feature a touchscreen and run on Symbian^3. Where they begin to divide is in the size of the screen and capabilities – both speed and internal memory. The Nokia C7 features a 3.7-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with Nokia’s rather fancy-sounding ClearBlack Display. Although the Nokia C7′s screen is pretty special, with darker blacks and more vibrant colours as a result, it does suffer from the usual greasy fingerprints you’ll get from any touchscreen device.

Fling Joystick makes gaming on iPad easier

We know that iPad is one amazing device that can do all sorts of things, and one of those things is gaming. Since iPad doesn’t have an input controller, except the multitouch display, gaming does feel abit uncomfortable for some gamers. If you’re one of them, the Fling Joystick might be a solution for you.

Playing games on the iPad with your fingers can sometimes be difficult, especially if you’re used to other gaming platforms that have controllers. If you’re used to controllers and joysticks, you can enjoy games on your iPad with Fling Joystick as well. In order to play the games with this joystick, you just need to place it on your screen, right over the directional pad of your game, and that’s it.

Fling Game Controller for iPad sounds like a potential solution, but so far, it only works with certain number of games. As for the price, you can pre-order the Fling Joystick for $25.
